Oregon St. had suffered its first "flip" loss of a recruit for the upcoming season. With Scott Crichton declaring early for the NFL and Devon Kell and John Braun graduating, adding help a DE was a priority, and when the Beavers landed 3 DE's last summer, including Shane Bowman, from perennial powerhouse Bellevue, WA, last summer, it appeared to be mission accomplished for head coach Mike Riley.
Today, that took a hit when Bowman decomitted, electing instead to go with Washington. The Huskies hadn't initially pursued Bowman heavily, with Idaho, UNLV, and Nevada, and several FCS Big Sky schools being Oregon St.'s competition.
But then Steve Sarkisian and much of his staff departed for USC, and Chris Peterson came on board along with much of his staff at Washington. With it came renewed interest from Montlake on Bowman, and the 6'4", 243 lb. 3 star prospect changed his plans.
I have decommited from Oregon State-Coach Riley and Coach Joe are tremendous people with a great program but just not the perfect fit for me.

With that being said I have committed to the University of Washington
