Oregon St.'s 2014 football recruiting class is now 10 strong (counting baseball/football combination Christian Martinek), with today addition of Ricky Liuchan.
Liuchan is a 6'2", 205 lb. outside linebacker from Mission Hills High in San Marcos, CA, north of San Diego.
Liuchan is rated a 3-star prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, and chose the Beavers over scholarship offers from Arizona St., who was pursuing him as a replacement in a LB group that will lose 6 seniors after this season, and also California, Iowa St., Washington St., and San Diego St.
Liuchan is a versatile player, capable of pass coverage, blitzing the quarterback, and has also been strong against the run for the Grizzlies, who went 9-3 last year, winning the East Division of the CIF Division I Avocado Conference.
Here's his highlight video:
Liuchan is the second LB commit in the 2014 class, along with in state prospect Ryan Nall.
