Oregon St. completed its 2015 non-conference football schedule with the announcement of a home-and-home series against San Jose St. of the Mt. West Conference. The Spartans will visit Reser on Sept. 19, 2015, completing a non-conference schedule that opens with the Weber St. Wildcats, followed by a trip to "The Big House" to take on Michigan the week before. The visit to the Wolverines' den was moved up a week from an earlier tentative date to work it all out.
The Beavers return the game with a trip to Spartan Stadium on Sept. 9, all the way out in 2020.
The Spartans, long time west coast doormats, a pair of wins over the Beavers in 1979 and 1982 not withstanding, became a tough, 11 game winning team last year in the WAC, including a bowl win, under coach Mike MacIntyre, before he moved on to try to rebuild Colorado, so it will be interesting to see if San Jose St. can maintain the improvements they have made in their program.
Oregon St. holds a 3-2 all-time series edge over San Jose St., with wins in 1987 and 1988, and a 26-12 win in 1997, in Mike Riley's first year as head coach.
The Beavers are becoming regular opponents for the Mt. West, with the series this year and next against Hawaii and San Jose St., as well as the current Boise St. series, which concludes in 2016 when the Broncos come to town, and a home and home with Nevada on the schedule in 2017 & 2018.
