High schools were used for practices. This one would be the 4th largest stadium in the state of Oregon if it were located up here.
The adjacent high school basketball facility would fit right into the Pac-12.
While San Antonio is 80 miles from Austin, its still Longhorn territory!
The Riverwalk runs through downtown San Antonio, and was heavily visited by numerous Oregon St. fans.
The first of several pep rallys was held on an outdoor theater on the Riverwalk, with the stage across the river from the audience. (It's only fair that we give Texas a little pub.)
And here's Oregon St. on stage.
The Tower of the Americas, located near the Alamo Dome and downtown. (The only landmarks in south Texas are ones Texans put there!)
One of the treats of the trip was a trip to SeaWorld San Antonio (which is located a 4 hour drive inland from the sea!)
Shamu is a Baylor fan! Who knew? (Shamu was escorted onto the the courtyard by Baylor fans, in honor of the Bear's 49-26 win over UCLA the night before in the Holiday Bowl.)
Both bands performed at SeaWorld, starting with the Texas band.
Of course, the OSU Marching Band looked and sounded sharp as always.
Benny meets Shamu.
Shamu joined in with the Oregon St. cheerleaders.
Cue the fight song!
Remarkably, we didn't lose any kids from either school! (Note the Nike N7 t-shirt.)
Benny and Bevo at the Alamo Bowl Luncheon Rally.
Everything is bigger in Texas, where they provided a megaphone too big for even Benny!
The Oregon St. cheerleaders were really flying high on this trip!
Benny leads the cheers at the Alamo Bowl Luncheon.
The OSUMB looking down at the Barriba Cantina, where the radio show originated from on Friday night.
Sunset Station, where the OSU Alumni Assn. held their function, is next to the Alamo Dome, and real trains go by as well as pieces of history.
The pregame march on the Alamo Dome.
O - S - U!
Ready for the game!
A bit of southwest color fits right in with the Orange and Black!
The pregame show on the field.
Time to "Rock and Roll"!
Oregon St. performed tunes from Aerosmith at halftime.
The OSUMB concludes their portion of the halftime show.
The Texas (top) and Oregon St. (bottom) bands joined the high school band that won the Alamo Bowl festival for a joint performance to conclude halftime.
We'll look at some of the ups and downs from the Alamo Bowl game itself, which tended to mirror the ups and downs of the season overall for Oregon St., in the days to come, as we take a look at the things the Beavers can build on, and those they need to correct. But first, lets take a look back in pictures at the Alamo Bowl experience, which was entirely positive, and a reward for the students and fans for a very good season, regardless of the exact outcome of the game itself.
