Oregon State got its first piece of bad news out of their fall camp today, as a foot injury will leave Defensive End Isaac Hodgins out of the lineup for up to eight weeks. Hodgins had been absent from practice yesterday, and today the team announced he had undergone foot surgery after an injury he sustained Saturday..
Hodgins is a veteran presence on Oregon State’s defensive line, having been a full time starter for the past three seasons. Over that time he’s picked up 38 solo tackles and 5.0 sacks. With Hodgins out for a good chunk of time, expect to see Jeromy Reichner or Tavis Shippen to get more snaps.
If Hodgins misses the full eight weeks, he could be back for the team’s October 9th matchup against Washington State, but that’ll leave the Beavers without a key piece of their lineup for their road trips to Purdue and USC, and home games against Washington, Hawaii and Idaho. Hopefully Hodgins is able to bounce back from this set back.
