Oregon State Basketball: Warith Alatishe, Maurice Calloo and Roman Silva Return For Another Season

The Beavers get some good news as some of their best players will be back next year.

Beaver Basketball got some good news this morning, when Warith Alatishe and Maurice Calloo announced they would be withdrawing from this year’s NBA Draft and returning to college. Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports has the scoop.

Alatishe and Calloo were both huge parts of the Beavers’ Cinderella run to the Elite 8. Alatishe will be one of the Beavers top returning scorers and led the Beavers in rebounding last season. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Pac-12 Tournament after leading Oregon State to its first conference tournament championship. Calloo was one of the team’s best three point shooters, and will be expected to shoulder a larger part of the offense with Ethan Thompson’s departure.

Thompson and Zach Reichle will be the two biggest gaps the Beavers have to fill in the offseason. Other than that, Oregon State’s roster remains mostly intact from their run through the NCAA Tournament, and they’ve picked up a few key transfers including Maryland’s Chol Marial and Minnesota’s Tre’ Williams, along with JC transfer Dashawn Davis.

UPDATE: According to Rothstein, Senior Roman Silva is also withdrawing form the NBA Draft, opting to use the extra season of eligibility granted by the NCAA. That’s another key part of the Beavers’ front court that will be returning.
