As the MLB Draft winds down, Oregon State continues to have its pitching poured over by the pros. Nathan Burns is the latest Beaver to get selected, with the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim) picking him up in the 19th round with the 561st overall pick.

Burns has made appearances for Oregon State in each of their last four seasons, with 2021 seeing his most action. Last season he appeared in 18 games for the Beavers, with a 5.16 ERA and a 1.632 WHIP. He notched one save and had a 1-0 record. While all his appearances in 2021 were in relief, he does have starting experience, making one start each in 2018 and 2019, and then recording 4 starts in the abbreviated 2020 season.
Burns is the fourth Beaver pitcher to be selected in this year’s draft, behind Kevin Abel (Reds), Chase Watkins (Cubs) and Bryant Salgado (Astros). Oregon State also had a pitching commit picked earlier today, when the Cubs selected Dominic Hambley from the Belmont Secondary School in British Columbia.
