Oregon State’s conference struggled continued as the Beavers dropped a listless 2-0 loss against UCLA in game 2 of their series tonight. OSU outhit the Bruins 5-4 over the game, but could not get a single runner home. The Beavers drop to 28-14, and 10-7 in conference play.

Coooper Hjerpe pitched 6.2 innings in the start, striking out nine while allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and 1 earned run. He got the loss, dropping him to 2-4 on the season, despite a pretty solid game. Chase Watkins pitched 1.1 innings in relief, striking out 2 against 1 hit, 2 walks and 1 earned run.

Garret Forrester and Greg Fuchs each managed 2 runs; Forrester’s a double in the fourth and a single in the eighth, while Fuchs hit a single in the second and a double in the fifth. The only other hit the Beavers managed was a Troy Claunch single in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately for OSU, they just couldn’t capitalize on anything today.

The Beavers will have a chance to salvage something from this series in the final game tomorrow, scheduled for 12 PM PT. The game will be aired by the Pac-12 Networks.
