NFL Draft: Jermar Jefferson drafted by Detroit Lions in 7th Round

Oregon State’s star running back lands in Detroit

NCAA Football: Washington State at Oregon State Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Oregon State’s star running back has been drafted by the Detroit Lions. He was drafted with the 257th overall on Saturday.

Jefferson was shockingly almost undrafted. The former Beaver offensive machine was drafted late in the 7th round with only 2 picks left before the draft was officially over. In other shocking news Hamilcar Rashed Jr the star of Oregon State’s defense who had 14 sacks and 22.5 TFLs as a junior went undrafted. Rashed was considered a potential first round pick a year ago, but after returning for his senior season and battling injuries he will have to sign as an undrafted free agent.

Back to Jermar Jefferson, he lands in a favorable spot with Detroit. The Lions drafted Penei Sewell (Oregon) with their first round pick and the team just traded swapped Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. In terms of running back depth the Lions signed Jamaal Williams and have De’Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson on the roster. Jefferson will have have to work to earn his spot on the team, but Beaver fans everywhere know how talented he is.
