With the 25th overall pick (Round 3, Pick 1) in Friday night’s WNBA Draft, the Atlanta Dream selected Oregon State guard Mikayla Pivec. Pivec was the Dream’s third selection of the draft process, after they used the #4 overall pick on Chennedy Carter (Texas A&M) and #17 choice on Brittany Brewer (Texas Tech).

Pivec was an All-Pac-12 selection in 2019-2020, along with former teammate Destiny Slocum, and was also named the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year after graduating with a 3.93 GPA. The Beavers’ captain averaged 14.8 points and 9.3 rebounds during her senior campaign and ranks in the top-ten of Oregon State’s all-time statistical marks in points, rebounds and assists.
A native of Lynnwood, Washington, Pivec is the first WNBA draft pick from the program since 2018, when the Phoenix Mercury chose center Marie Gulich with the #12 selection in the 1st Round. Gulich is one of two Oregon State players currently on WNBA rosters, as both her and Sydney Wiese are current members of the Los Angeles Sparks.
