In there final game in Ames, Iowa, Oregon State defeated #21 Iowa State in 5 sets to improve to 2-1. The victory finishes their participation in the Iowa State Challenge, where they also beat Virginia, and lost to Ole Miss.

The Beavers took a hard fought first set 27-25. The Beavers followed that up with an impressive 25-19 win in the second set. The Cyclones would battle back, and took set three 26-24. ISU would even things up in the next set, with a 25-18 win, taking things to a decisive final set.
OSU jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the final set, before the Cyclones came back to tie it 4-4. The teams would trade the lead back and forth for the rest of the set, finally finding themselves tied at 14-14. Maddie Goings then gave the Beavers the lead with a kill, and an attack error from ISU finished things off, giving the Beavers a 16-14 win in the final set and the overall victory.
Goings was the team’s leader in kills, with 25. Lindsey Schell contributed another 10 kills. Following the game, Goings and Schell were both named to the Iowa State Challenge All Tourney Team, while the Beavers’ Libero, Grace Massey, was named tournnament MVP.

The Beavers will next compete in the Rose City Challenge in Portland, on August 31st. They’ll take on UC Davis and Portland State.
