Oregon State Football: Most Valuable Player Countdown - #26 Hamilcar Rashed Jr

The linebacker is ready to make a splash in 2018

The college football season is just over one month away! With the off-season quickly coming to an end, Building the Dam is unveiling their top 30 most valuable football players for the 2018 season. We’ll countdown by previewing one player at a time until it’s almost time for some Beaver football.

#26: Hamilcar Rashed Jr - Linebacker

Hamilcar Rashed Jr. is a 6-foot-4, 224 pound sophomore linebacker from Chandler Arizona. Coming out of high school Hamilcar was a three-star prospect according to most recruiting sites. He was rated as the 7th best prospect in the state of Arizona. He once had 10 sacks in a game!

Entering 2018 he has played in 12 games for Oregon State and has managed six tackles. With the loss of Bright Ugwoegbu the coaching staff need Hamilcar, Kee Whetzel and others to step up. With his size and athleticism, Hamilcar could make a big impact on the defense this season and will hopefully be a nightmare for opposing offenses.

I’m expecting Hamilcar to play a lot of snaps this season while the Beavers defensive retools. The linebackers will need to get into opposing backfields and pressure opposing quarterbacks. If the defense can show some improvement with their young talent, they will could be very good the next couple of seasons.

The list so far:

#26: Hamilcar Rashed Jr. - LB

#27: Isaac Garcia - DE

#28: Shemar Smith - LB

#29: Shawn Wilson - CB

#30: Yanni Demogerontas - OL

Our countdown continues tomorrow with the 25th Most Valuable Player for the Beavers in 2018.
