Well, the 2018 football season and the first of Jonathan Smith’s tenure as the Oregon State head football coach has come to a close. Are two wins in twelve games what a football program at any level should strive for? Of course not. It’s like Smith himself said after the bummer of a loss to Oregon: “that is not the standard.”
On the other hand, there are positives to take from this season. The Beavs did double their win total this season from one to two. By my math, that’s twice as much. Let’s not forget that one of those wins was against a Pac-12 opponent and on the road. It had been quite a while since that happened. Plus, this Jermar Jefferson guy is going to be something to watch.
But with the full season now come and gone and Smith having his feet fully on the ground, we ask you Beaver faithful...are you satisfied with year zero?
Sure, great teams take time to build...but is two wins what you were expecting?
