On Thanksgiving, Oregon State headed up to Vancouver for their first road trip of the season. They took on the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky in the first round of the Vancouver Showcase.

OSU grabbed an early lead, but couldn’t put WKU away in the first half, but the Hilltoppers hung around, and tied up the score 19-19 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Destiny Slocum began to take control of the game, giving the Beavers a 6 point lead. As the quarter wound down, some great shots and a steal from Mikayla Pivec added to the Beaver lead, and OSU went into the half up 41-31.

In the third quarter, Oregon State continued increased their lead, going up by as much as 17. The Hilltoppers battled back in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to single digits at a couple points. Katie McWilliams then hit a pair of clutch three pointers to cut Western Kentucky’s momentum, and Oregon State took the win 74-60. The Beavers are now 4-0 to start the season.

Mikayla Pivec stole the show tonight, with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. The team runs through Pivec at this point, and she’s delivering.

Destiny Slocum also dropped 18 points on Western Kentucky, and also added 5 assists and 2 rebounds. Despite only playing her fourth game as a Beaver, she’s fit into the lineup perfectly, and is already delivering big wins.

The Beavers have a ton of dangerous 3 point shooters, but Katie McWilliams was tonight’s star. She hit three out of four of her three point attempts, and finished with 17 total points, and 4 rebounds.

Friday night the Beavers will play in the second round of the Vancouver Showcase. They’ll take on South Carolina at 8:30 PM PT. The Gamecocks are 3-1, and ranked 13th nationally. This’ll be the biggest test the Beavers have faced this season. If you have a BD Global account, you can watch the game online. Otherwise, you can follow the game on the team’s twitter account.
