What?

Basketball?

No I want to write about that football game...

Fine. We’ll talk about the Colorado basketball team

The Colorado Buffaloes BASKETBALL team was tabbed to finish 7th in the Pac-12 after missing the NCAA tourney the past two seasons. The bunch from Boulder will be one of the youngest teams in the Pac-12 after last seasons leader George King signed with the Phoenix Suns and returning big man Dallas Walton tore his ACL earlier this month and tore Ralphie hearts out.

Colorado will look to a pair of guys with the same last name to lead their backcourt (Hey... That sounds familiar), as lone senior Namon Wright will hold down the shooting guard position while McKinley Wright IV will get the nod at point guard.

The starting lineup will likely be round out by a pair of sophomore forwards in D’Shawn Schwartz and Tyler Beh. Freshmen bigman Evan Battey, who missed last season due academic issues and a medical scare, will likely see a lot of the minutes Dallas Walton was expected to take.

Can Tad Boyle lead this young squad to a spot in the big dance? It will be a tall task, but if the young nucleus of talent can progress the way they think they can it is a definite possibility.

Player to watch

Point Guard — McKinley Wright (So.)

McKinley Wright is expected to do big things in Boulder as noted in this profile by The Athletic in June. Tad Boyle will rely on Wright to lead the Buffaloes from the point guard spot and many expect him to be one of, if not the best point guard in the conference, especially if he was able to improve his outside shot this offseason.

Our very best friends forever at Ralphie Report put together this highlight reel from McKinley’s freshman season in Boulder.
