This past week, we saw some high notes as well as low ones for Oregon State athletics. Some we dove into in detail, but we missed a few as well. Thanks for stopping by for some afternoon reading as we recap the week that was in Beaver Nation.
Baseball Hype Continues To Build
The OSU baseball season is less than three weeks away and the expectations are once again very high for the Beavers. After already being ranked the #2 team in the country by Collegiate Baseball, D1Baseball.com, and Perfect Game, the Beavs got their fourth and fifth ranking at the same spot.
Baseball America ranked the Beavs #2 in the nation as well and did an in-depth preview of the team.
Meanwhile, USA Today released their coaches poll and had Oregon State in the #2 spot.
Nick Madrigal is an All-American, Once Again
The OSU infielder made D1Baseball.com’s preseason All-American list this week. He made the same list last year and was also named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball last month.

JaQuori McLaughlin is off to UC Santa Barbara
We mentioned this earlier in the week, but the former OSU guard has decided to transfer to UC Santa Barbara after being granted his release from the school in December.
Oregon Live did a nice write up on the sophomore on the move earlier this week.

Beaver Football Picks Up Slew of Commits
The following players have committed to OSU in the past week:
Jeromy Reichner, 3-Star JUCO Defensive Tackle
Jermar Jefferson, 3-Star Running Back
John McCartan, 3-Star Linebacker
All these players come from position groups that the Beavs need to get replenished in a hurry, so this news should come welcome to Beaver fans.
Oregon State Gymnastics Gets A Home Win Over Stanford
The #18 Beavs beat #23 Stanford in their first home meet of the year on Saturday.
Several members of the OSU team produced personal bests in a few different events. Their next home meet is on February 3rd against Arizona State, which will include fundraising events to benefit cancer research.
