The Oregon State Women’s Basketball team takes on the Colorado Buffaloes on Sunday for a 1 PM PST tip-off. The Beavers are coming off a back-and-forth affair against the Utah Utes while the Buffaloes come in after losing by 20 to the Oregon Ducks. You can watch the game on the Pac-12 Network, listen on the Oregon State Beavers Sports Network, or follow along on Twitter. Let’s check out the Buffs.
Colorado (not ranked, 11-9 overall, 2-6 conference)
The Buffalos are on a five game losing streak, but don’t let that fact get you too confident for the Beavers. Boulder is not an easy place to play, particularly as the second game on a road trip after a hard fought contest. The Coors Event Center is home to the highest basketball court in the the Pac-12 at 5,345 feet which can make an opponent’s legs weary.
Colorado hosts one of the peskier guard combinations in the conference in junior guards Kennedy Leonard and Alexis Robinson who rank sixth and seventh respectively in the conference for steals a game at about two a piece. Leonard leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points a game, and Robinson is second with 11.4. The Buffs also feature a potential freshman of the year in forward Annika Jank who averages 10.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and one block per game.
Prediction
This has the making to be a trap game for the Beavers. They’re coming off a tough win against Utah and then they host Stanford in next week’s first game against the Bay Area schools. Then there’s Colorado’s pick-pocket happy guards looking forward to an Oregon State team that can’t seem to solve their turnover issue, and don’t foget about the elevation element. The Buffs will find a way to make this a game before the Beavs squeak out another road win.
