Oregon State beat Ball State today to complete the series sweep and improve to 14-1 on the season.
Jake Thompson picked up his 4th win on the season going 7.1 innings while giving up just 3 hits and 1 run. Brandon Eisert got the final 2 outs of the 8th inning in relief of Thompson. Mitch Hickey came in to start the 9th inning but struggled after taking a line drive to the leg. Hickey had missed the first 14 games of the season with a back injury. Freshman Mitchell Verburg relieved Hickey to get the final 2 outs of the game and close out the series.
Trevor Larnach led the offense, reaching base on every plate appearance (3 hits & 2 walks) and picking up an RBI. KJ Harrison hit his 2nd home run of the season, a solo shot over the left field fence in the 5th inning. Michael Gretler and Christian Donahue each picked up 2 RBIs while Adley Rustchman picked up another.
The Beavs open up Pac-12 play this week with a 3 game series at Arizona State starting on Thursday.
