- An interesting, developing story coming out of Corvallis, OregonLive.com was the first to report that redshirt freshman guard Kendal Manuel was recently “arrested on a fourth-degree assault charge”. It is believed that the incident potentially took place on Thursday, the day after the Beavers lost to California in the Pac-12 Tournament.
- Friday has been named as “decision day” by the New Orleans Saints as to where wide receiver Brandin Cooks will continue his career in the NFL. The Saints have been openly shopping Cooks to teams as of late, with the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans both being viewed as the front-runners for his services.
- While Brandin Cooks is firmly listed on the trade block, former Beavers wide receiver Markus Wheaton and running back Jacquizz Rodgers have done their own exploring of the NFL Free Agency Period, as well. Wheaton has recently moved on from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Chicago Bears, while Rodgers has chosen to re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- ESPN’s Chantel Jennings composed this piece on quarterback Jake Luton’s long journey to finally end up at Oregon State and how some of the gunslingers’ setbacks may have better prepared Luton for his next set of challenges, which begins with possibly winning the starting quarterback gig for the Beavers.
- ICYMI: Oregon state head baseball coach Pat Casey secured a milestone for the ages on Thursday night, when he secured the 800th win of his stay in Corvallis, with a 2-0 shutout of Ball State. Casey, who has coached the Beavers since 1995, has compiled a 800-441-5 with the Beavers, while also winning two College World Series Championships. He has also been named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in five different seasons.
