The Oregon State Women’s Basketball team held UC Davis to just six points in the third quarter to give them the decisive edge in their 61-47 victory. The Beavers (9-2) outscored the Aggies (9-2) by 10 in the third frame, thanks to an 11-2 run spread out over six and a half minutes. The rest of the contest was quite contested as the scoring margin was three points or less in the rest of the quarters.
It looked like Oregon State would try to give this one away as they accumulated 8 turnovers before UC Davis recorded their first at the end of the second quarter. The Beavers also managed season worsts in shooting percentage (36%) and points, but in the end, their defense stymied the Aggies to their season lows in points and shooting percentage (24%).
Mikayla Pivec led all Beaver scorers with 14 points to go along with nine rebounds and three assists. Marie Gulich collected 12 points and 12 rebounds to collect her fourth double-double of the year while adding four assists. Taya Corosdale also got into double figures with 12 points. Morgan Bertsch led the Aggies with 20 points.
Oregon State will take a week off before opening conference play at home against Washington on Friday, December 29th. Come back to Building the Dam for a preview.
Great win to wrap up nonconference play!
