This morning Oregon State President Ed Ray announced that Marianne Vydra will act as interim athletic director. The school is currently searching for Todd Stansbury’s replacement, since his departure for Georgia Tech.
Marianne Vydra previously served as the interim athletic director after Bob De Carolis’ resignation and before Stansbury accepted the job. Marianne will take over in her role on November 4th.
In the meantime, Oregon State’s search committee led by Joey Spatafora is searching the country for qualified candidates. The athletic director search committee includes a number of notable former and current Beavers.
Notable search committee members include:
- Steven Jackson - Former NFL running back
- Stephen Thompson Jr - Current men’s basketball player
- Pat Casey - Current baseball coach
- Tanya Chaplin - Current women’s gymnastics coach
- Marty Reser - VP of sales for Reser’s Fine Foods
- And more... Check out the full list here.
Pat Casey was initially thought to be a candidate to replace Todd Stansbury as Oregon State’s athletic director, but in a recent interview with OSU beat writer, Danny Moran, Casey said “I'm not a candidate for the job. I'm not interested in the job." Pat Casey is fully committed to coaching the Beavers baseball team and leading them to a successful season. Which is great news for OSU baseball fans.
I expect the committee to name a permanent athletic director in the next few months. They have a few qualified in-house candidates, but the committee will surely do their due diligence searching for the best candidate that can lead Oregon State athletics to new heights.
