Oregon State Baseball Draws Blank Against Cal

Oregon State continued their series against Cal tonight at Evans Diamond Stadium as they looked to bounce back after yesterday 6-2 loss. Cal however had other plans as Cal's pitcher Ryan Mason threw a complete-game shutout for a 5-0 win. The Beavers record drops to (16-4, 3-2 Pac-12) and Cal improves to (13-6, 3-2 Pac-12).

The first inning looked to set the tone for the game as both teams were held hitless. Cal gained momentum the next inning as Brett Cumberland hit a solo home run and Mitchell Kranson added another in the fourth for a 2-0 lead. The Golden Bears batters weren't done as they scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 5-0 lead.

The Beavers were held to just four hits by Ryan Mason, who also had seven strikeouts and got his third win of the season. Jake Thompson started the game for the Beavers and had a rough evening at the plate. He gave up nine hits, five runs and striking out five. With the loss his record is now 2-2 on the season.

Saturday the series concludes, game time at 12:30pm. Cal has a chance to sweep the Beavers, it would be their first time getting swept this season.
