Oregon State tipped off conference play Wednesday night against USC. Despite a spirited second half USC downed the Beavers 70-63. Oregon State scored a season-low 17 points in the first half. The poor start prompted Wayne Tinkle to call out his teams toughness and intensity; stating in the post-game press conference "[We] came out flat and waited until we got down to show some fight and some intensity. That's been a little bit of a marker for this group. It's been the same old song." The Beavers will need to start out strong if they have any chance of knocking off UCLA tonight.
The Bruins have been one of the top stories in college basketball; tallying 13 straight wins on their way to a shiny No. 2 ranking in the AP and Coaches Poll. They are coming off a tough 89-87 defeat to Oregon though, thanks to Dillion Brooks game-winning three. The loss prompted UCLA head coach, Steve Alford, to call Friday’s game against Oregon State “a must-win”.
No matter what happens tonight, Beaver fans won’t want to miss out on watching talented freshman, Lonzo Ball, and the rest of UCLA’s high-octane offense. Lonzo Ball is a likely one-and-done candidate, who stuffs the stat-sheet. He is averaging 13.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.6 rebounds per game as a true freshman.
We are just 30 minutes from game-time so sit back, relax and enjoy some Beaver basketball.
