Oregon St.'s Looks To Get Back On Track At Volcanoes' Stadium Rained Out

5:45 PM UPDATE:

Afternoon showers and hail have rained out this evening's game between Oregon St. and Portland at Volcanoes' Stadium in Keizer, as Kurt reported from the scene below.

The teams will attempt to make the game up later in the season, and though no date was determined at the time of the rainout, it has quickly been rescheduled for Monday, May 18, with a 6:05 PM first pitch.

9:15 PM UPDATE:

And then re-rescheduled to Wednesday, May 13, with the same 6:05 PM first pitch.

Oregon St. (23-11) looks to get back on track tonight, after losing their 3rd consecutive series Sunday afternoon, when Oregon scored 7 unanswered runs to take a 10-9 Civil War win. The Beavers have now lost 6 of their last 9 games.

Portland (7-31) looks like the perfect opponent to try to regain some confidence against, given the Beavers have already beaten the Pilots handily twice this season, 14-2 in the Portland and 12-3 in the Corvallis legs of their annual triangular series. The Pilots have lost 6 in a row, after being swept by USF last weekend, and 12 of their last 14 games, though one of those 2 wins was against the same Oregon team that just took 2 of 3 from the Beavers.

Oregon St. will be looking to extend their already program longest 24 game winning streak against a given opponent.

Tonight's game at 6:35 at Volcanoes' Stadium in Keizer, the home of the San Francisco Giants' single A short season affiliate, is annually one of the best attended games of the season for both the Beavers and the Pilots, and the only foray into the Salem-Keizer market for either team.

There will be, unfortunately, no video of the game in any form.

Oregon St. and Portland both will make game day decisions about their starting pitcher. Freshman Sam Tweedt (4-0, 3.16 ERA) started both prior games against the Pilots for the Beavers, and hasn't gotten involved in a game since the Saturday game of the Cal-Poly series late in March, so there's a good chance he will figure in at some point tonight.
