Jamie Weisner and Oregon St. swept the desert trip this past weekend, on the heels of a win over Washington last Monday that counted in this week, and are reaping recognition regionally and nationally as a result.
Weisner scored 54 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in the 3 wins, all come from behind, but eventually 8, 18, and 11 point victories that moved the Beavers to 18-1 for the season, and 8-0 in the Pac-12, and alone in first place.
The latter 2 in the desert marked the first time Oregon St.'s women have ever swept both the LA and Arizona trips in the same season.
The win in Tempe snapped a 17 game Oregon St. losing streak to Arizona in games on the Sun Devils' floor.
As a result, Weisner has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, and the National Player of the Week by ESPNW.
It was the second week in a row that Oregon St. collected the Conference weekly honor, following Ruth Hamblin receiving it last week.
Oregon St. also moved up to #7 in this week's AP Poll, their highest ranking ever, from #9 last week.
The conference earned some respect as well, as Arizona St. actually moved up from #13 to #11 despite the loss, having won 2 of 3 in the week, including a win at Stanford. The Cardinal only slipped 1 slot, from #11 to #12, after bouncing back to sweep the LA schools.
