#6 Oregon St. (26-7, 10-4) at Washington St. (16-15, 7-4) / Bailey-Brayton Field / 12 Noon PDT / No TV / KEJO 1240 AM / No KPOJ 620 AM
Oregon St. and Washington St. wrap up their Pac-12 series today at noon in Pullman.
Yesterday afternoon, the Beavers rediscovered their bats, and the result was a more entertaining brand of ball, and more importantly, a 12-5 win. Gabe Clark led the way, going 4 of 5, improving him to 6 of 9 for the weekend, and including 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Washington downed Stanford 7-2, so the Beavers remain 2 games behind the Huskies in the Pac-12 race.
Oregon St. will send junior LHP Jace Fry (6-1, 1.75 ERA) out to try for the win that would give the Beavers their 4th series win in a row against Washington St. It would also ensure the Beavers stay a game ahead of Arizona St.
Fry scattered 10 hits over 7 innings last Sunday, but allowed only 1 run, which allowed Oregon St. to snare the 2-1 win over Stanford. The Sun Devils have won the first 2 games in their series against California.
Washington St. will counter with senior LHP Jason Monda (1-2, 3.10 ERA).
Beaver fans will recall Monda as the other Philladelphia Phillie draftee who along with Oregon St.'s Ben Wetzler, was drafted, and then turned in to the NCAA, by the Phillie organization for getting competent advice, and then electing to turn down the Phillies' offer, and elect to come back to school for their senior seasons, only to encounter an eligibility flap right before the season.
Monda allowed only 5 hits and 1 run in the first 7 innings of what would become Washington St.'s 6-5, 10 inning come back win over California last Sunday.
