Oregon St. Slides Slightly In Polls

Beaver baseball bumped down in this week's polls.

After losing the last 2 games of their weekend series to Arizona St., Oregon St. slid down in the various Collegiate Baseball polls this week. But because of some other upsets, the slippage was only slight.

The Beavers dropped from 4th to 6th in this week's Baseball America poll, which also flipped Florida St. back ahead of South Carolina to the top. This despite the Seminoles losing twice, to both Florida and Clemson. The reason of course was the Gamecocks losing 2 to Kentucky. Virginia couldn't capitalize, and stayed at #3, due to a loss to Miami.

Oregon only edged up 2 spots, but did at least break into the top 10, after sweeping Utah, while UCLA, who moved into first place in the Pac-12 along with Oregon and Washington, all 1 game ahead of Oregon St., moved up from #22 to #18 after bouncing back from a Friday loss to Washington St. to take both weekend games from the Cougars.

The climber in the poll is Cal-Poly, who jumped over Oregon St. and Vanderbilt, and into the top 5, after taking 2 of 3 from California.

Fullerton St. stayed at #9, despite a loss to Long Beach St., but UC-Santa Barbara continued to climb, up to #15 from #19, after a 4-0 week.

Collegiate Baseball moved Louisiana-Lafayette into their poll top spot, after the Ragin Cajuns, who are now 22-2, avoided the upset bug that bit 7 other members of the top 10 by going 5-0.

The Beavers dropped from #5 to #8 in their poll, behind the Ducks, who edged up from #8 to #7.

The Huskies made their way into a poll for the first time in years with their sweep of Arizona on the heels of a win over Portland, debuting at #19 on the Collegiate Baseball list.

Oregon St. slipped from #5 to #7 in Kendall Rogers' Perfect Game poll, as both Louisiana-Lafayette and Cal-Poly moved past the Beavers. Rogers still has Oregon 1 spot back, in 8th, while he stayed with the Seminoles at the top.

The USA Today Coaches' Assistant Sports Information Directors Poll also dropped the Oregon St. 2 spots to #7, as well as keeping Florida St. at the top. The ASID actually dropped Oregon a spot as they elevated the Cajuns ahead of both the Beavers and Ducks.

Oregon St. will attempt to get back on track, after missing a golden opportunity to make a move for the top in the polls, Tuesday night when the Beavers host Seattle at 5:35 PM at Goss Stadium.
