Gary Andersen has rounded out his staff of assistants at Oregon St., naming Telly Lockette as the Beavers' new running backs coach.
Lockette comes to Corvallis after spending the last 2 years as the running backs coach for the University of South Florida. Before that, Lockette was head coach at powerhouse Miami Central High, after spending 4 years as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Miami Northwestern, where he was a star 2-way player as a running back and linebacker in his high school playing days.
Lockette, a Miami native, played linebacker at Idaho St. from1995 thru 1998, finishing his career as a Division I-AA (now FCS) All-American, so he has knowledge of the west, as well as bringing a valuable recruiting connection into the state of Florida, having extensive connections, as well as experience, on both sided of the recruiting process there.
"Coach Lockette brings a wealth of experience to our staff," Andersen said in announcing the hiring. "He is a terrific communicator with young people, a proven coach and motivator and is someone that will be respected immediately by our team and recruits. We are very excited to have him be a part of Beaver Nation."
