New Oregon St. football coach Gary Andersen has named another of his assistant coaches, and its another hire from the Utah region, as Kevin McGiven has been hired to be the Beavers' quarterback coach.
McGiven has been the quarterbacks coach at Utah St. the last 2 seasons, and was also the Aggies QB coach for 1 year under Andersen, in 2009.
Prior to that, McGiven spent 3 seasons a few miles away, at Weber State as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach, and before that, a season at Southern Utah, as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers coach, both FCS schools.
After his first stint in Logan, McGiven, now 37, spent 2 years at Memphis, as the Quarterbacks Coach and Assistant Head Coach of Offense, and then went to FCS Montana St., as the Offensive Coordinator and QB coach, and helped lead the Bobcats to an 11-2 record, and a 3rd consecutive Big Sky Conference Championship in 2012, ahead of both Eastern Washington and Montana.
McGiven, originally from Orem, UT, was a wide receiver for a year of JC ball, and spent 1 season at Louisiana Tech, also as a wide receiver.
