Rice (7-23, 2-14 in C-USA last year) at Oregon St. (16-16, 8-10 in the Pac-12 last year) / Gill Coliseum / 7 PM PST / Pac-12 Channel / KEJO 1240 AM / KEX 1190 AM
Oregon St. opens the counting portion of the Wayne Tinkle era tonight, hosting Rice from Conference USA. It's the season opener for the Owls too, who went 7-23 last season, and 2-14 in C-USA.
The Beavers of course lost almost all of their returning experience, scoring, rebounding, you name it, and with almost as many walk-ons on the roster as recruited players, went down 57-47 last Friday to Division II Western Oregon in a non-counting exhibition.
On paper, it's one of Oregon St.'s best chances for a win this season, yet comes before new coach Wayne Tinkle, who took over after Craig Robinson was dismissed after an almost empty house greeted the Beavers for their 1 and done at home in the CBI tournament last spring, has had much time to piece together what pieces he does have.
Further complicating the problems, the Beavers will continue to be without center Daniel Gomis for this game and the next several, after Gomis tore a shoulder muscle.
The game is the second half of a double-header, with the 20th ranked Oregon St. women hosting Portland at 4 PM PST. Unfortunately, there's no tv for that, but there is a live stream.
