Oregon St. freshman ace Andrew Moore's complete game 2 hit shutout 9-0 win over 11th ranked (10th at the time) Oregon has earned him his first Pac-12 Pitcher Of The Week honor.
It was Moore's second complete game shutout in 3 weeks, after blanking California 5-0 2 Saturday's ago.
Moore (11-1, 1.34 ERA) walked Oregon's leadoff hitter, but then sat down 10 Ducks in a row, and also retired the last 12 batters he faced in the game enroute to becoming the first pitcher to win 11 games in the Pac-12 this season, with 7 of the wins against Pac-12 opponents.
Among those Moore was chosen over this week was Oregon's Tommy Thorpe, who had 2 hit Oregon St. Friday night.
Moore joined Matt Boyd, who has twice been chosen conference pitcher of the week. Moore also broke Sam Gaviglio's freshman school record of 10 wins in 2009 in beating the Ducks.
UPDATE:
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Moore the Co-National Pitcher of the Week along with Long Beach St.'s Shane Carle, who threw a 6-hit complete game shut out 5-0 win over UC Riverside.
