Washington Goes For Sweep Of Oregon St.

Kavin Keyes had a 3 RBI triple in Saturday's 2nd game against the Huskies, but the Beaver offense accomplished little else all day. They'll need more today to avoid getting swept.

Washington goes for a sweep of their weekend series with visiting 5th ranked Oregon St. today, after the Huskies swamped the Beavers Saturday, taking both ends of a soggy double header.

The game was moved up from the original 3 PM start time in an effort to buy time for battling the weather, which washed out Friday night's game, and made for a miserable day Saturday.

Washington backed up a 5-1 win in the opener with a 10-3 win in the evening game, with an 8 run 8th inning the whole key in that one.

The Beavers will try to bounce back behind junior LHP Ben Wetzler (2-1 1.97). Wetzler got his 2 wins this season in his last 2 Sunday outings.

The Huskies are considering going with sophomore RHP Tyler Davis (1-5, 4.86), but a final decision likely won't come until game time.

Oregon St.'s bullpen is well rung out, after Saturday's rough outing, and the Beavers haven't hit the ball well in the rain with any consistency this weekend, so Wetzler may not get much support.

Today should tell something about both character and coaching for Oregon St., who will see their lofty ranking take a tumble, but must now limit how far they fall.

Today's lineup:

Max Gordon-CF

Tyler Smith-SS

Michael Conforto-LF

Dylan Davis-RF

Danny Hayes-1B

Ryan Barnes-DH

Kavin Keyes-3B

Jake Rodriguez-C
