Game Notes / Gametracker / No Live Stream
5th ranked Oregon St. starts a 5 game, 6 day road trip north with today's game on the bluff at the University of Portland. The Beavers will travel on towards Seattle afterwards, stopping for the night in Chehalis, WA. They will continue to Seattle Thursday morning, and work out in preparation for this weekend's 3 game Pac-12 series at Husky Ballpark against Washington, and then stay over for a Monday afternoon game at Seattle University before returning home.
Today's game is the northern leg of the season's triangular series with the Pilots, and a makeup of the game originally scheduled for March 5, which was rained out. The Beavers won the Corvallis leg of the triangle 7-5 on April 2, highlighted by Danny Hayes' 2 RBI double followed by Jake Rodriguez's 2 run homer. It was the 16th. consecutive win in the series for Oregon St.
This season's series will conclude May 8th., with a game at Volcano's Stadium in Keizer.
Oregon St. comes in on a bit of a roll, having swept Utah last weekend in Corvallis, while Portland has been struggling of late. The Pilots lost the last 2 of 3 games at BYU last weekend, after having been swept the weekend before by Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference. Yesterday, tenth ranked Oregon extended Portland's losing streak, taking a 4-1 win on a 9th inning 3 run homer by the Ducks' Scott Heineman, followed by the usual dose of All-American closer Jimmie Sherfy.
Neither team announced a starter in advance of game day, with conference road trips (Portland plays at St. Mary's this weekend) looming for both.
The late decisions on starters are junior RHP Dan Child (3-1, 3.04) for Oregon St. and freshman RHP Zach Torson (0-4, 5.19) for Portland.
Of note, the Beavers' Ryan Barnes will carry a 10 game hitting streak into the trip.
Coach Pat Casey has once again shaken up the lineup, with Joey Jansen in the leadoff spot, and Danny Hayes dropped way down, and Beau Day in the cleanup spot.
Today's lineup:
Joey Jansen-CF

Michael Conforto-LF
Beau Day-DH
