20 of Oregon St.'s baseball players are headed for a variety of summer ball teams this season once finals are finished this week. In addition to Michael Conforto and Dan Child, who will be playing for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, 18 players will be scattered across 8 teams in 5 leagues this year.
Beaver fans can see several players locally, as 6 are in the West Coast League. Catcher Nate Esposito and pitcher Carlos Rodriguez are playing for the Corvallis Knights, while outfielder Joey Matthews and pitcher Matt Fielding are with the Bend Elks, and pitcher Riley Wilkerson and outfielder Ryan Howell are with the Wenatchee Applesox.
A half dozen Oregon St. starters are in the prestigious Cape Cod League, generally considered the best of the summer leagues. Four of the Beavers, pitchers Ben Wetzler and Jace Fry, catcher/infielder Jake Rodriguez, and infielder Kavin Keyes are all with the Falmouth Commodores, while infielder Tyler Smith and pitcher/outfielder Dylan Davis are with the Brewester Whitecaps.
Three Oregon St. pitchers, Cole Brocker, Cole Baylis, and Scott Schultz, will all be throwing for the LaCrosse (WI) Loggers of the Northwoods League, and 3 Beavers will be playing in California.
Pitcher Zach Reser and outfielder & primary pinch runner Ryan Dettman are headed for the Humboldt Crabs of the Far West League, and outfielder/infielder combo Ryan Barnes will be with the Santa Barbara Foresters of the California Collegiate League.
