Texas-Pan American (7-8) vs. Oregon St. (9-3) / Gill Coliseum / 2 PM PST / Pac-12 Channel / KEJO 1240 AM / KPOJ 620 AM
Oregon St. is coming off a terrible showing on Saturday when they lost to Towson in OT 67-66. Hopefully that loss will fire up the Beavers, and they won't be as "complacent about showing up to Gill and winning games," as Craig Robinson said after the Towson loss.
Reigning Pac-12 Player of the Week Eric Moreland had a career game in the loss, with 16 points and 18 rebounds. However, not even he was immune to the cold stretches the team suffered through in the second half. The Beavers had stretches of 4:26 and 5:29 minutes without making a field goal. Towson was more than willing to capitalize and get back in the game.
Texas-Pan American is part of the 5-team Great West Conference, which they finished 4th in (out of 6 teams) last year. The Broncos lost in their first game of the Great West Conference Championship, and have never reached a NCAA tournament.
The Broncos have a 3-game win streak, and have won 5 of their last 6. On Saturday they beat Portland 56-52.
The Broncos' leading scorer is senior Brandon Provost. The 6'3" guard averages 15.7 PPG and shoots over 40% from 3-point range. Their other senior guard Aaron Urbanus scores 12.4 PPG. As a whole, the Broncos score 66 PPG, ranking 209th in the country.
The Beavers are bigger and better than Texas-Pan American. Hopefully the loss to Towson has taught them a lesson about letting teams stay in games. Look for Oregon State to put the Broncos away and go into conference play on a high note.
Go Beavs!
