Towson vs. Oregon St. Game Thread

The Beavers face yet another weak opponent in their first game in a week.

Towson (4-8) vs. Oregon St. (9-2) / Gill Coliseum / 1 PM PST / Pac-12 Channel / KTHH 990 AM / KPOJ 620 AM

The Towson Tigers are visiting the Beavers this afternoon, and there is a Alamo Bowl viewing party scheduled at the conclusion of the basketball game, where a T-Shirt and autographs will be offered.

This is the Beavers 6th straight cupcake opponent, although they haven't exactly cruised through their recently easy non-conference schedule. They haven't lost since dropping a game to #10 Kansas, but haven't won all of their games as easily as they should have. The Beavs squeaked by Portland State by 5 points, and had Chicago State hang around for longer than they should have. Their last game was an 86-79 win over San Diego in Las Vegas.

The Towson Tigers are coming off a 1-31(!) season, in which they lost in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. The Tigers have made 2 NCAA tournament appearances (1990, 1991) and are 0-2 in the tournament. They are on a 4-game losing streak, including a 6-point loss to #15 Georgetown.

The Tigers best player is Jerrelle Benimon, a 6'8" junior forward who leads the team in PPG (15.8) and rebounds per game (10.8). Nobody else on the team averages double digit points, and nobody else averages over five rebounds per game. Benimon also leads the team with 21 blocks this season.

The Beavers will look to Devon Collier to have another good game off the bench, complimenting Pac-12 player of the week Eric Moreland and the hot-shooting Roberto Nelson. It would be nice if Ahmad Starks could return to the form he showed in the very early season before the conference season begins.

This should be the Beavs 6th consecutive victory, and leave them with just one non-conference game before the Civil War that will kick off conference play.

Go Beavs!
