OSU Softball: A look ahead

Oregon State will find themselves in unfamiliar territory as they sit in the dugout on Thursday. They will be in Oklahoma Nebraska, in the College World Series for the first time in school history. In the other dugout will sit a team that has done this a few times- Arizona. They've only missed 1 College World Series in the last 19 years.

Taking a closer look, the Beavers have almost all that stats against them. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 71-10, and under their current coach, they lead 37-6.

The Beavers are looking for their second ever National Championship in school history. The only other championship for Oregon State was men's Cross Country in 1961.

The Pac-10 Conference continued its dominance this year- It sent 7 teams to regionals, and all 7 teams moved on to the Super Regionals. Four teams are headed for the CWS: Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, and UCLA.

Oregon State carries a #7 National Ranking into the World Series. Seven Pac-10 teams finished in the Top 25, with the Beavers being the 3rd best on the list.

Here are the teams playing in the CWS in order of seed, with the #1 seed on the top.

UCLA
Arizona
Texas
Northwestern
Alabama
Arizona State
Oregon State
Tennessee

With all of the numbers behind them, the Beavers and Wildcats will face off on Thursday, June 1st, at 12pm. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
