OSU Baseball Fall News (yes baseball!)
We may be gearing up for Pac-12 football right now, but here is some quick news (and good news actually!) about the OSU baseball team.
First is that the baseball team actually took the field last Monday for a brief workout session (see: Baseball Gets Back To Business).
Additionally the fall 2011 recruiting class has been named ninth in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, which is good news in that the program seems to be restocking talent very well. Five of these players were drafted by the MLB but elected to play ball at OSU: Jace Fry (LHP), Jordan Dunatov (OF/RHP), Carlos Rodriguez (LHP), Cole Brocker (RHP/OF/IF), and Nate Esposito (C/IF) and all could be names we hear more about this spring. For more about this story see: Baseball's Recruiting Class Rated Ninth By Collegiate Baseball and Collegiate Baseball: Current Recruiting Results.
And finally a story about the success of OSU players in summer league play: Nine Beavers Named Top Prospects In Collegiate Summer Leagues.
Go Beavs!

Associate Coach Marty Lees was on the Joe Beaver show the other day,
and commented on how strong a summer Ryan Gorton had catching for the Corvallis Knights.
With Andrew Susac going pro, and Parker Berberet graduating, catcher was a concern for the Beavers, and Lees said they had been looking seriously at some JC catchers. But he said he realized he had what he needed in Gorton already right here, given the continued progress the do everything Gorton out of Tigard demonstrated.

Now now,
With Andrew Susac going pro, and Parker Berberet graduating,
Berberet went pro as well.
BASEBALL !!! ...sucks :( or maybe not? It sorta does.
True, he did,
but he was going to be gone anyway, even if he hadn’t.

Can hardly wait for the Pac-12 games at Goss
Arizona, Washington, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon. My favorite sport, in my favorite ballpark.
Glad to hear the Beav team is shaping up so well. Who’s going to back up Gorton?
Yay Baseball!
What ended up happening with Pat Casey?
No change at this time.
I did find it interesting that they took the time to talk about his thinking over options (which I would hope he, or anyone, would do anyway), but then didn’t say anything about not deciding to make a change.

Should Casey decide he's had enough of Coaching...
He’d make an excellent AD for Oregon State.
I’d like nothing more though than to see him coaching for another 50 years.
