BlogPoll: Week 4 Draft Ballot

Stay connected for news and updates

I'm going to be honest, I hate this ballot. I thought having a bye and being able to watch football all day would help me make the greatest ballot ever, but here I am at 2:40 AM, having just watched my BCS buster get throttled in the middle of the night, and I'm very confused.

I'm not gonna lie, I am very tired right now. I watched every minute of Stanford-Arizona and Oklahoma State-Tulsa and the entire time the only thing I could think about was scotty laughing at me. I even ate three bowls of Sun Belt Fruit & Nut Granola cereal, but that didn't make me feel any better.

So, here is my Week 4 BlogPoll Draft Ballot. Suggestions for changes are due by 9:00 PM Pacific on Monday, at which time I will submit the final BTD Ballot. As in our last post, I'll defend my picks after the jump.

Movin' On Up

Stanford - Andrew Luck and the Cardinal looked very impressive last night in their 37-10 win at Arizona. I now have Stanford at #8, where I think they are pretty solid.

Wisconsin - The Badgers crack the top ten for the first time this season after their 49-7 romp over Northern Illinois. The Badgers' big test will come in two weeks when they host Nebraska.

Arkansas - The final new addition to the top ten are the Razorbacks. The Troy Trojans played Arkansas tough for three quarters yesterday, but I still think Arkansas belongs here.

South Carolina - The Gamecocks only move up a spot after surviving a scare against Navy. The Midshipmen took them to the final possession but ended up coming three points short of the upset.

Texas - Who knows if UCLA is truly terrible or if the Longhorns are beginning to show some signs of the old Texas teams. What we do know is that Texas went into the Rose Bowl and beat the Bruins by 29, meaning they move up two spots in my ballot.

Georgia - The Bulldogs played their first cream puff of the season yesterday, shutting out Coastal Carolina 59-0.

Nebraska - While the defense was sub-par at best, the Cornhusker offense looked unstoppable in yesterday's 51-38 victory over Washington. The win moves them up two spots to #15.

Clemson - Here's the first time that BTD gets to tell the rest of the nation, "We told you so!" BTD ranked Clemson at #22 in the preseason poll and #19 last week. The Tigers will almost surely move into the Top 25 this week after their 38-24 upset over the Auburn Tigers.

TCU - The Horned Frogs didn't look all that impressive in their 38-17 victory against Louisiana-Monroe, but they move up due to Arizona State's loss.

USC - The second team that moves up thanks to Arizona State. USC got a solid 38-17 win against Syracuse, but I'm still not 100% sold on them yet.

South Florida - The Bulls moved to 3-0 and pulled an Oregon in yesterday's 70-17 romp over Florida A&M.

Oklahoma State - The final team to move up are the Cowboys. Oklahoma State ran over Tulsa 59-33 in a game that finished at 3:30 AM local time on Sunday morning. It was so cold and late that at one point that I counted 235 fans in the entire stadium.

Goin' Down

Florida State - The Seminoles drop three spots to the outskirts of the top ten following their heartbreaking loss against Oklahoma last night. We will know whether they belong inside or outside of the top ten when they visit Clemson next week.

Pittsburgh - Quite honestly, the Panthers didn't look all that bad today. Sure, now we know that they are terrible at holding leads, but still, a four point loss on the road against a pretty good Iowa team isn't that bad. I still think this team will make a BCS Bowl, and I love quarterback Tino Sunseri and running back Ray Graham. We will know after next week's Notre Dame game on whether or not to drop them out of the Top 25 completely.

Ohio State - The Buckeyes looked bad for the second straight week in their 24-6 loss against Miami (Florida). Another performance like this and they will be out of the Top 25.

Michigan State - I feel like we should drop the Spartans more after their loss against Notre Dame, but I'll leave that up to you guys to decide. I still think they look better than TCU and USC for that Top 20 spot.

Arizona State - The Sun Devils are the final team to fall victim to Road Test Saturday. The Fighting Illini shocked ASU, 17-14, yesterday in Champaign. I still think the Sun Devils belong in the Top 25 though after their great win over Missouri last week.

So, what do you guys think? Tell me what I need to change and provide a good argument for it and we will change it!
