Oregon State and Georgia meet at 6:00 PM west coast time tonight in Game 6 of the Corvallis Regional. If the Beavers win tonight, they will win the Corvallis Regional and advance to next weekend's Super Regionals. If the Bulldogs knock off Oregon State tonight, the two teams will play a winner-take-all championship game tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.
Oregon State comes into tonight's game with a record of 40-17. The Beavers have good wins against Connecticut, Arizona (2), Arizona State (3), Stanford (3), UCLA (2), California (2), Arkansas-Little Rock, and Creighton. Oregon State has other solid victories against Gonzaga (2), Oregon, and Long Beach State (2).
The Beavers are currently on a two game winning streak after defeating Arkansas-Little Rock and Creighton in the first two games of the regional play. Last night, the Beavers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first two innings of play. Creighton cut the Beaver lead in half at 2-1, but Oregon State scored three unanswered runs to run away with the victory.
Oregon State is one of nine one seeds to be in the driver's seat of their respective regionals, meaning they have two chances to win one game in order to advance to the Super Regionals.
The Bulldogs come into the game with a record of 33-31. The Bulldogs are currently on a two game winning streak after defeating Arkansas-Little Rock yesterday and Creighton earlier today.
Creighton did defeat the Dogs on Friday afternoon, hanging on for a tight 2-1 victory in which both pitchers threw a complete game. Yesterday, Georgia jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the UALR Trojans and they cruised from there for a 7-3 win.
Earlier this afternoon, the Bulldogs knocked Creighton out of the tournament with a 5-4 victory in 11 innings. Kyle Farmer and Zach Cone led the Bulldogs with 2 RBI's each.
Josh Osich (6-4, 3.57) will get the start for the Beavers, but Georgia has yet to name a starter. In Georgia's last Sunday game (Before this afternoon), Blake Dieterich (3-3, 3.44) got the start for the Bulldogs.
In Osich's last start, Josh went 5 innings, giving up 3 runs (All earned) on 4 hits. In Dieterich's last start, Blake went 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs (Both earned) on 6 hits.
