Oregon St. Gymnasts Super Against Arizona St.

The seventh ranked Oregon St. Gymnastics team turned in a super performance few saw on Super Bowl Sunday (brilliant scheduling*) in Tempe. The Beavers posted a season high score of 196.950, and cruised past Arizona State by more than two points.

It was the fifth highest road score ever in Oregon St. history, and the third highest team score posted by anyone in the country this season.

The Beavers will have a short week back in Corvallis, as they leave Thursday for Chicago, where they will compete in the IGI Chicago Style Invitational on Friday against Pac-10 rivals UCLA and Stanford. (If you think basketball has a challenging schedule, how about going to Chicago for a conference meet?*)

The Bruins edged the Beavers by .05 of a point in their first meeting of the season.

At least Oregon St. will then have two weeks off.

* While gymnastics is not one of the "premier" sports in the Pac-10/12 inventory, the quality of the teams does produce non-trivial attendance, at least some of the time. An item for Larry Scott's lengthy agenda might be sensible scheduling that doesn't ensure deflated attention.
