Oregon St. Gets A Corner Originally Headed To Arizona

Stay connected for news and updates

Oregon St. football coach Mike Riley picked up an early Christmas present this morning when Devian Shelton de-committed from Arizona, and announced he will become a Beaver.

Shelton, a 6'2", 185 lb. corner back from Inglewood High in Inglewood, CA, is rated a 4 star recruit by Rivals.com, and a 3 star prospect by Scout.com.

Shelton helped the Sentinels to a second place finish this year in the Pacific Conference, a California Western Division Class IV league.

Shelton was on-board early with the Wildcats, but the hiring of Rick Rodriguez in place of Mike Stoops, generally seen as a blockbuster move, apparently wasn't as impressive to him. Oregon St. defensive backs coach Keith Heyward apparently was impressive, as Shelton decided he would fit right in in the Beaver defensive backfield.

Here's a look at some highlights:

Shelton is the 18th. player in the 2012 recruiting class, the 4th. defensive back, and the 2nd. cornerback.
