Ted Miller reports that he tore some ligaments in his shoulder, and it will take 6 weeks for him to be pain free. However, it is possible that he plays this weekend, depending how much pain he wants to play through

Playing without Quizz

As much as that would suck, I’d be okay with that as long as he can be healthy for the bowl game. I know he’s a warrior but I don’t know if Riley should risk him getting seriously injured.

This also allows the guys who haven’t had a chance to play a lot yet, (Francis, McCants) the ability to show us even more of their repertoire than they already have. I’m sure they’d also play better due to practicing the sets more. This gives Riley the ability to become more creative and a disadvantage to Oregon in seeing less video time from these players.

Either way I won’t cry if we lose without Quizz and blame it on him not playing.

My question is

Will Quizz being at less than full health hurt us more than help us? I’m all for giving Quizz a run if he feels great, but if he’s not his normal self (which he probably won’t be), then we may be shooting ourselves in the foot.

can you post on the other post and help me out with this view?!?

McCants may take a while to heat up

But he gets going, he’s a great runner. I’m confident in him. And Francis looked good as well. Losing Quizz hurts, no doubt, but unlike our feather friends to the south, we can win without our star players because we have depth

Extra dimensions

That’s what they will add. If the Beavers get the win at the CW, Quizz & Moevao come back afterwards, then the RB will be that much better.

It’s all about this week though.

Give McCants credit

He is a very good back when he fully gets into the game. He is a big guy and has good burst. There were times during the game Saturday where it took 4 or 5 guys to bring him down and he picked up about 4 or 5 extra yards through sheer size and determination. Francis is a better pass-catcher than quiz and a good change of pace. He was a highly-rated JUCO prospect and he is a serviceable runner.

It really comes down to the offensive line. Both backs looked good when the line was getting a good push and opening holes. Neither has shown any sort of special ability to make something out of nothing. That’s what we will miss with Quizz out.

I say let Quizz heal. There’s no sense playing him and having him repeatedly reinjure hi shoulder. It would be better for all involved if he was constantly playing injured like YB always did. Maybe we won’t even need him. We beat them last year with Sieverson starting and McCants is bigger and faster.

McCants needs bigger holes to run through

thats for sure. Quizz could just turn his shoulders and get through the smallest of cracks. McCants will have a harder time with that

Good point

Hopefully with a full week practice with the O-line and McCants as the lead back they should figure it all out. I can see how they would be used to blocking in ways special for Quizz, and yes will probably have to adjust a bit.

Um...

“…’wasn’t’ constantly playing injured,” perhaps?
