Well, we have this going for the Beavs

+

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE junior forward Emery Welshman was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-October 3, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. With the football team sucking seemingly more and more; maybe we should concentrate on soccer more. Congrats to Emery!

Espitia Switches To Cal

Oregon St. lost a verbal commit they thought they had on board for the 2012 season when Maximo Espitia announced this weekend that he had changed his mind. Espitia, as 6'2". 205 lb. WR for South Salem, has now decided to attend Pac-12 rival California instead in 2012.

You Have To Be Kidding

The Bruins actually complained about a Pac-12 promo video that has Tommy Trojan planting his sword into the UCLA logo. And the Pac-12 responded to their complaint by removing it. Wouldn't it be better to just do something about it on the field? And if they can't, just shut up until they can?

Connor Talks With Wiscobadgers.com

1

Oregon St. and Wisconsin fans don't see a lot of each other (it's been 50 years since the Beavs and Badgers have hooked up for a game), so we will be talking with sites that cover Wisconsin this week, starting with Connor's conversation with Wiscobadgers.com.

2012 Non-Conference Schedule Updated

+

Btd reported last Friday that Nicholls St. would be the Beavers opponent for the opener next season, and the question was what would be done about the previously scheduled game at BYU. Athletic Director Bob De Carolis has got the legwork done (requires Pac-12 approval due to conference and tv scheduling issues, as well as revamping things with the Cougars) in less than a week that moves the BYU game in Provo to Oct. 13. Oregon St. will now have a pair of home non-conference games to start the season, and since next year is a Civil War home game, 7 games at Reser.

Beavers Projected to Go 4-5, Tie UW for Third in Pac-12 North

+

Many thanks to all you OSU fans who participated in last week's Pac-12 predictions post. We had over 1000 responses! The results are in and Oregon State is projected to go 4-5, with wins over UCLA, Arizona, Washington State, and Washington. As a Cal fan, I am happy to say your annual heartbreaking win over the Bears may not come to fruition (for once).

Quizz Gets 50 Squirrelly Yards

Former Oregon St. football enthusiast Jacquizz Rodgers had his best night yet for the Atlanta Falcons, rolling up 50 yards on 9 carries, some against the Pittsburg Steelers' starting defense.

2011 Season Preview: The Oregon State Beavers And The Quality To Respect Ratio

1

Pretty good read, lots of data and graphcs and quotes like "Oregon State typically earns plaudits for their fearless scheduling, but do the rewards exceed the risk? With one fewer Rodgers brother, problematic defensive depth and another tough slate, the Beavers might be looking at another year with a "Best (Insert Mediocre Record Here) Team In The Country" title." "By the way, this year the Beavers' non-conference schedule lightens up. They only have to host BYU and visit Wisconsin. Slackers."

Xlog Looks At Oregon St.

+

There's another relatively new sports website that you may not have discovered, Thexlog.com. They are a national site, but they are taking individual looks at teams, and unlike some of the well known national publications that use info. compiled last spring and never updated, Xlog is actually reaching out to beat writers for a late update. Today's they are looking at the Pac-12, including Oregon St., after contacting Buildingthedam.com for some local perspective.
