It's game 2 against the Bobcats this afternoon, and the Beavers are coming off a dominating 16-4 win. The Beavs scored early and often while Matt Boyd, Taylor Starr, Tony Bryant, and Zack Reser cruised through the TSU lineup, easily protecting the big lead the offense provided them. Most of that offense came in the 4th and 7th innings, in which the Beavs scored 6 and 5 runs, respectively.

With basketball also playing, the valley radio coverage is over on 990 AM.

The Beavers' probable starter was Dan Child (3-0, 1.56). These probables are getting increasingly less concrete as head coach Pat Casey tries to make sure the rotation is ready for conference play starting on Friday. Child's last appearance came against Bryant last Saturday, when he went 7 innings and gave up 2 unearned runs on just 3 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 5. Casey made a last minute decision to switch to freshman Andrew Moore as the Saturday starter. Moore (3-0, 0.42) has gone deep into games in each start, making him idea as the #2 guy, allowing the bullpen a break in case of having to be extended against an opponent's Friday night guy.

Taylor Black (1-1, 0.41), a 6'2" sophomore righty, will start on the mound for the Bobcats. He has been very impressive this season, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits over 22 innings of work. He's struck out 23, but has walked 8. Black also pitched last Saturday, throwing a 1-hit shutout over 7 innings against Northern Kentucky.

Today's game will probably be closer than Friday's, but a Beaver loss would be terribly disappointing. Look for the offense to keep heating up and the pitching to keep the Bobcats off the board.
