Meckler shot up a lot of draft boards after a fantastic 2022 season. He was one of Oregon State’s most consistent hitters last season, behind only Jacob Melton and Justin Boyd, with a .347 batting average and a .934 OPS. He was also one of the team’s top fieldders, with a 1.000 fielding percentage and 94 put outs. He could end up being a steal for the Giants organization in the eighth round.
Oregon State’s outfield is one of the groups expected to be hit the hardest by this year’s draft. In addition to Meckler, outfielders Justin Boyd and Jacob Melton have already been picked, meaning the unit is in store for a complete face lift next year.
