Oregon State Football: Jaydon Grant On Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

The stand-out defensive back gets some recognition for his work off-the-field.

According to a release from The Wuerffel Trophy, the 2021 preseason watch list for the coveted college football award includes 93 players from around the country, including Oregon State defensive back Jaydon Grant.

The accolade is given each season to the the player “who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.”

Off-the-field, Grant has been involved with many organizations and events in the community including “working with the homeless as well as a Night to Shine event, which provides a prom night experience for people with special needs. He was also involved in the formation of the Dam Change platform at Oregon State”, as per a statement from Oregon State’s athletic department.

On-the-field, he was a 2020 All-Pac-12 honorable mention selection, finishing the campaign with 29 tackles and two interceptions.

The Beavers open their season in just over a month on Saturday, September 4th against Purdue at 4:00 PM PT in West Lafayette, Indiana. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.
