Linebacker Avery Roberts, who just a week ago was named to Bednarik Award Watch List, picked up a spot on the Butkus Award Watch List on Monday, an accolade presented annually to the best linebacker in college football.

As we noted in our past article, “Roberts was an All-Pac-12 team member last year, as he led the Pac-12 with 69 tackles, recording double-digit wrap-ups in four different contests, including a jaw-dropping 21-tackle game against Utah that ranks among the best individual showings in Beavers history. For his career, Roberts has accumulated over 150 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.”

In other news, tight end Teagan Quitoriano found his name on the John Mackey Award watch list, a post-season award given to the best at his position annually since the year 2000. The 6’ 6”, 256 pounder has totaled 21 catches for almost 300 yards and 3 scores in his career, but is expected to have a breakout campaign in 2021.

Past winners of the award include Florida’s Kyle Pitts (2020), Washington’s Austin Seferian-Jenkins (2013), Notre Dame’s Tyler Eifert (2012), UCLA’s Marcedes Lewis (2005), Virginia’s Heath Miller (2004), Miami-FL’s Kellen Winslow (2003) and Iowa’s Dallas Clark (2002).
