Oregon State will square off with Wake Forest in the first round of the 2021 Emerald Coast Classic, flanking an opposite match-up between LSU and Penn State in a field of four power conference squads representing the Pac-12, ACC, SEC and Big Ten.

The tournament is expected to take place on November 26th and 27th at Northwest Florida State College.

Wake Forest posted a 6-16 record during the 2020-2021 campaign, including a 3-15 mark under first-year head coach Steve Forbes that saw them finish second-to-last in the ACC regular season standings. However, like most teams, they will undergo a massive roster overhaul this off-season, losing pieces like Ismael Massoud (Kansas State) and Ody Oguama (Cincinnati) to the transfer portal, while adding new talent like Khadim Sy (Ole Miss) in the process.

As for the other two teams in the field, LSU is considered a borderline Top 25 squad, whose season prognosis will massively be impacted by the NBA Draft decision of leading scorer Cam Thomas, while Penn State will be hoping to be more of a figure in the Big Ten under rookie program director Micah Shrewsberry.
