#12 seed Oregon State has made a legendary run through both the Pac-12 Tournament and now the NCAA Tournament and it will continue this week, as the Beavers will match-up with #8 seed Loyola Chicago on Saturday at 11:40 AM PT. The game will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the site of their “Round of 64” win over Tennessee, and will be televised nationally on CBS.
Obviously, both teams enter with some serious wind in their sails, as Oregon State has won five straight contests and 8 of their last 9 games overall. They’ve dropped just one game since their February 20th defeat versus Colorado and are not only playing their best basketball of the year, but maybe of head coach Wayne Tinkle’s entire tenure in Corvallis.
As for the Ramblers, we’ve begun to learn that March is their time to shine and the 2018 Final Four participants will try to build off their own eight game winning streak, which included a dismantling of #1 seed Illinois in Sunday’s meeting. Loyola Chicago is one of four double-digit seeded teams that advanced through the field to the Sweet Sixteen already, along with Oral Roberts, Syracuse and the Beavers.
However, it is important to remember that Loyola Chicago has one secret weapon on their side in Sister Jean, a 101-year old chaplain for the Ramblers team, who is not someone you want to see supporting the squad you’re about to go up against.
A full preview of the Ramblers will be available later this week, as we continue our coverage of the Beavers in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
